and yeah, the snow all melted...streets were almost rivers in some spots, and my balcony is --ok was free of snow (yes, its snowing again /sigh)

Snow melted the other day and then we got some more today that then melted and is going to now freeze. Especially with the nasty wind we have at the moment...

yeah, hubby said it was pretty windy out today, I could hear it thru the fireplace, glad I had no where to go today either--not quite as warm in my place, but not cold.

Driving in it was no fun. Getting thrown all over the road sucks. I don't think it is as windy today but it is colder... 22 feels like 5. Yippee.

Ya it was definitely cold out today. And I was an idiot. I went in to work today when I wasn't feeling well. Felt okay after showering and having breakfast. Thought I could totally do it. Ya, not so much... Gutted the day out but I regret going in...

sometimes there arent many choices...so going to work while not the best choice, probably was a good choice (hope you can stay home and beat whatever you have over the weekend)....my neices all had the flu last week so its going around (all the more reason to NOT be around kids)...so stay warm, drink plenty of fluids and sleeeeeeeep!

and now ....its snowing AND cold (my snowman door decor is very happy right now).

I had my sub plans laid out and it wouldn't have really cost me a day since I was just switching Monday and Fridays plans for physical science and biology was going to stay the same. Oh well. Doing better today it seems so I might kick this thing yet.

It snowed yesterday, but no snow yet today.

well, thats good...mondays a holiday for you? (banks, gov't etc all closed mlk jr day--my sister has the day off, but then again she works for a bank).

I do have to work on Monday. We don't get MLK off this year. One of the few schools in the area that are not taking it off. I know the students aren't happy about it and I don't believe most of us teachers are either. Especially since our next day off isn't until Feb 17th or something like that. Then following that we have no days off until April... Going to be rough.

yeah there is a big swath of time before the next holiday (I remember when my hubby's office was asking which holiday they wanted off either mlkJR or presidents day, I said take feb over jan--you just had like 2 weeks off then you work a week and another day off then its months before the next holiday? crazy).
but then again, having holidays off was never something most of the companies I worked for were into--you got xmas, new years, memorial day, 4th-july, labor day and thanksgiving (all unpaid) and that was it; was really happy when one of the places we worked (back when hubby was finishing his degree), asked us to work on new years---2x pay--oh yeah, nice.
those days are long gone, though hubby works 24-7 365 (IT) so it doesnt matter if its newyears day and the servers go down, he will be working (no extra pay either).

holidays were one of the best things about working in japan, they had boat loads of them and usually on mondays ...so I would do long weekends traveling, kinda miss all that.

It sucks that you have to choose holidays. Don't know why they can't just give you the ones most people celebrate or the most important ones or what not. So why not both MLK and President's day? All you would do is tack on an extra day at the end. Of course by the end of the year we are all wanting less days lol.

Overtime is a lot of people's incentive to work on holidays. Plus sometimes you don't have to do near as much because everyone is doing holiday stuff.

I could use a Monday off. I'm feeling way better today but I still would prefer Monday off to make extra sure. Sadly since I don't have that I will go in to work. I should be good though.

(mlk JR... mlk was a totally different person--that was his dad and actually outlived his sone by ~16 years)

so here is a good paradox for you....
you have just turned old enough to enter the working world...you apply for a job, get the interview and are told you did not get the job....because
you had no experience! (my sister had this experience when after college graduation she applied for jobs in her field which were NOT available until she had a degree and was told since she had no experience she was turned down).

or

you turn 18 (legal age to apply for credit) and apply for some credit...again, you get turned down....because
you have no credit history!

so I heard from some friends that one of the aps they liked using was no longer available to them, so they had stopped using it, when asking the company who made/upkeep the ap they said they had removed the ap (from my friends choices) because they had not been using it (even though they had up until it was removed) and to get it back--they would have to use the ap!

(exactly HOW are they susposed to use the ap if its been removed????)

I got as much sleep as possible last night. And now the wife is sick... Dang.

Yup I had a similar problem with my credit stuff. I applied for credit after getting out of college and securing a job. They told me I couldn't get one because I had no credit history. I even told them I had a job and could provide proof and everything. But no, they wouldn't do it. I was too risky. But by golly will they give a college student a card. Like seriously? A college student? With probably no income? Awesome. Tis the world.

Not a big app user, so that I couldn't answer.

I dont use aps either (no cell phone here), but if someone tells me in order to get something back I have to use it and its no longer available-----

hope your mrs is feeling better, have been feeling a bit under the weather here too, slept most of today....good thing too since its blinkin cold here and we had more snow yesterday! (good time to just stay inside under a warm pile of blankees with lots of warm cuddly stuffed toys).

Ya that is pretty stupid to say the least.

She seems to be doing okay atm. Though she is losing her voice. But I guess that is better than being stuffed up and coughing 24/7. She slept most of today which is good since she took forever to fall asleep last night due to coughing.

Had work yesterday, then a snow day today due to dangerous roads. I'm aokay with that.

yeah, hubby is usually happy when they say to NOT come to work (though he still has to work, but from the comfort of our home).

supposed to be blinkin cold all this week, and its not feb yet (when its usually the coldest), Hawaii is looking better every day.
